La Vérité en Peinture est un ensemble d’ouvrages interrogeant notre rapport à l’image picturale à l’heure de Wikipédia.

 

Chaque livre est l’exacte représentation d’une peinture essentielle de l’histoire de l’art.

 

L’image de ces tableaux fut prise sur Wikipédia, aggrandie à l’échelle 1 (la réelle dimension du tableau), fragmentée en carré de 20X20 puis imprimée et reliée sous la forme d’un livre : chacune des pages de ce livre est un carreau du tableau.

 

Naturellement, de la part la pixellisation de l’image et la fragmentation d’un tableau toujours bien  plus grand que 20 X 20 cm et bien que manipulé par le spectateur, l’image du tableau nous semble toujours étrangère.

 

L’ensemble des livres-tableaux sont disposés dans un meuble connotant l’idée d’un retable.

The Truth in Painting is a set of books questioning our relationship to the pictorial image in the era of Wikipedia.

 

Each book is the very image of an essential painting in the history of art.

 

The image of these pictures was taken on Wikipedia, enlarged to a scale of 1 (the actual size of the table), fragmented into 20x20 square then printed and bound as a book, each page of this book is a tile of the table.

 

Naturally, from the pixelation of the image and the fragmentation of a table always larger than 20 X 20 cm and although manipulated by the viewer, the image of the table always seems foreign.

 

The set of books-tables are arranged in a loose connoting the idea of an altarpiece.
